À ses débuts, la principale préoccupation de la SPCA était d’améliorer la situation des chevaux de trait. Aujourd’hui, elle est la plus grande société pour la protection des animaux au Québec. La SPCA de Montréal est un organisme à but non lucratif qui dépend presque exclusivement des dons du public pour effectuer son travail. During the early years, the primary concern of the SPCA was improving the treatment of work horses. Today, the Montreal SPCA is the largest society for the protection of animals in Quebec. The Montreal SPCA is a non-profit organization that relies almost exclusively on public donations to carry out its work.
