Rafia Merchant

Rafia Merchant, CAIA, currently serves as the Managing Director of Capital Markets at Spearmint Energy, a green merchant energy company, since March 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Director of Acquisitions, Investments, and Financial Advisory at ENGIE North America Inc. (2022-2024), where Rafia focused on valuation, structuring, and securing funding for projects. Rafia has also been a member of the Board of Directors at the Women's Energy Network Greater New York City Chapter from January 2019 to December 2023, promoting women's development in the energy sector. Previous positions held include Project Finance at New York Power Authority (2020-2022), Senior Relationship Manager in Structured & Project Finance at Bank of China (2016-2020), and roles at BNP Paribas and Macquarie focused on energy derivatives and structured financing. Rafia’s educational background includes two Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from NYU, a BBA in Finance, Accounting, and Mathematics from Schulich School of Business, and a BBA in Accounting and Finance from York University.
