Gabrielle Grieco has a range of work experience in event planning and administration as well as teaching. Gabrielle is currently working as an Assistant Director of Development - Special Events at Special Olympics Illinois. Prior to that, they held positions as an Event Specialist and Event Administrator at the University of Chicago, where they managed event planning, logistics, and coordination. Gabrielle also provided support for the planning of the university's annual Convocation. Gabrielle has experience in education as well, serving as a high school social studies teacher in the Portsmouth School District, where they developed curriculum and led the Criminal Justice Pathway program. Gabrielle also worked as a student teacher in the Lower Merion School District. Additionally, Gabrielle has held roles at Special Olympics Pennsylvania, where they served as the Fall Festival Director, overseeing a student committee in planning the event, and at the Rhode Island Public Defender, where they conducted intake interviews and assisted with legal services. Gabrielle has also worked as a Shift Leader at Villanova University Conference Services, managing a team and providing services for residential summer programs.
Gabrielle Grieco began their education at Saint Mary Academy Bay View, where they obtained their high school diploma from 2012 to 2016. Following that, they attended Villanova University from 2016 to 2020 and earned their Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Teaching with a focus on History. In 2020, they obtained certifications as a Secondary Social Studies Teacher from both the Rhode Island Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Currently, from 2021 to 2022, Gabrielle is enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree.

Special Olympics began in Illinois with the first games at Soldier Field in July 1968 thanks to the efforts of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her peers. There are now more than 4.5 million athletes in 170 countries. Special Olympics is financially sound with diverse revenue streams, a thorough annual budget process and increasing organizational revenue streams. Special Olympics Illinois does not charge athletes or their families to participate in the program.
