Richard J. Pierce has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Richard J. started their career in 1978 as a Police Officer for the Attleboro Police Department, eventually rising to the position of Chief of Police. During their tenure, they were responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the operations of the department. Richard J. also served as the Assistant Emergency Management Director for the City of Attleboro during the same period.

Richard J. Pierce earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth from 1971 to 1975. Richard J. then attended Roger Williams University from 1982 to 1986 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. Finally, from 2006 to 2008, they pursued a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration at Anna Maria College.
