Richard Fernandez has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Richard started their career in 1980 at Purex Industries, where they worked as an Account Manager and Service Consultant. Richard managed pension plans, health and welfare plans, and also oversaw the human resources operation. In 1981, they joined Pacific Life Insurance Company as a Business Development Consultant and Client Relations Manager, eventually becoming a Director. Richard then moved to Long Beach State Athletics in 2002, where they served as the Assistant Director of Marketing until 2004. In 2005, they joined Special Olympics Southern California as the Assistant Vice President of Development, mainly focusing on the Law Enforcement Torch Run portfolio. During their tenure, revenue increased from $495,000 to $1.7 million. Richard'sexpertise lies in marketing, relationship selling, sponsorship, and working with multiple executive groups and boards.

Richard Fernandez completed their education from 1972 to 1976 at Northern Arizona University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Public Relations. Later, they pursued further education from 2002 to 2004 at California State University, Long Beach, earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Kinesiology in 2004 and another M.A. degree in Sports Management during the same period.
