Matt Starr

Matt Starr has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Matt started their career at Western Automation Labs as a System Engineer and Sr Software Engineer from 1990 to 1995. Matt then joined NetDelivery as a Software Architect in 2000, where they gained experience in agile programming and development styles.

Matt joined Spectra Logic in 1995 and held various roles throughout their tenure. Matt started as a Scientist, working on hardware, software, and firmware design and implementation. Matt then became the Director of Software Engineering, leading a team in developing a next-generation storage system and earning several patents. Matt later became the CTO at Spectra Logic, responsible for voice of the customer, business development, corporate spokesperson, and product strategy. Under their leadership, Spectra Logic developed groundbreaking storage products and achieved significant growth.

In 2007, Matt took on the role of CTO, VP of Engineering, and VP of Operations at Spectra Logic, overseeing product strategy, engineering, and manufacturing operations. Matt successfully turned around the manufacturing operation team. From 2012 to 2015, Matt served as the CTO, VP Operations, and played a crucial role in revenue generation and operational excellence.

Since 2015, Matt has held the position of CTO, VP Sales APJ, and CTO, VP APJ Sales, and VP Federal Sales at Spectra Logic. Matt is responsible for revenue, profit, and overall business management in the Asia Pacific and US federal regions. Matt's expertise and experience extend to various storage markets, including general storage, HPC, Oil and Gas, Cloud, and Genomics.

Throughout their career, Matt has demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a track record of driving growth and success in the storage industry.

Matt Starr attended the University of Colorado Colorado Springs from 1983 to 1990, where they earned a BSEE degree in VLSI design. In 2003, they enrolled at the University of Colorado Boulder - Leeds School of Business to study Accounting and Finance, and their education in this field is ongoing.
