Sidney Bourne

Sidney Bourne is an accomplished Applications Scientist at Spectro Scientific since October 2014, specializing in instrument development. Prior experience includes serving as a Consulting Chemist and Instrument Developer independently, and as Vice President and Chief Scientist at Spectra Analysis, Inc., where Bourne co-founded and developed the DiscovIR-GC and DiscovIR-LC for GC-IR and LC-IR analysis. As President and Founder of Bourne Scientific, Inc., a company focused on chemical analyzer design, Bourne contributed to the development of direct deposition GC-IR and LC-IR instruments. Additional roles include product management and development at Biorad Digilab Division and Mattson Instruments, leadership at Cryolect Systems, and a position as Leader of the Organic Chemistry Group at Argonne National Laboratory. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, a post-doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
