Vis Garimella

Vis Garimella has over 30 years of work experience in the field of research and development. Vis began their career in 1987 when they earned their Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad, India. In 2000, they joined Nanosphere as a Staff Scientist, where they successfully transferred gold nanoparticle technology from the university to the company. Vis was then promoted to Senior Research Scientist, where they developed different types of DNA-based gold probes and studied their stability. Vis was then promoted to R&D Group Leader, where they developed cost-effective coating on microarray slides for DNA printing and developed DNA and Antibody-based assays. In 2015, they joined the International Institute of Nanotechnology at Northwestern University as a Senior Research Leader and Project Director, where they managed micro RNA and antibody-based assay projects, published papers in peer-reviewed journals, and trained students on gold probes and T-CAN instrument. In 2016, they joined Global Patent Solutions LLC as a Patent Research Analyst. Finally, in 2017, they joined Spherotech, Inc. as an R&D Manager and Safety and Regulatory Manager, where they established customer relations, developed new technology for coating DNA and Proteins on different types of polymer beads, gold, and silica, and developed new commercial products for company growth.

Vis Garimella completed a Post Doctoral degree in RNA synthesis from the Biomedical Center in Uppsala, Sweden from 1992 to 1994. Prior to that, Vis Garimella obtained a Ph D in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) from 1986 to 1992.
