Bernd Wittner

Chief Technology Officer at Spiden

Bernd Wittner has a diverse range of work experience in the medical device industry. Bernd is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Spiden since July 2021. Prior to this, they held various roles at Baxter International Inc. from 2015 to 2021. As the Senior Director, Acute Therapies Engineering, they were responsible for leading the global engineering function for therapy platform innovation and development. Bernd also served as the Director, Renal Acute Engineering, where they led the engineering organization responsible for the design and development of electro-mechanical therapy systems. Bernd also worked at Gambro, where they held the position of Development Director and Development Manager, overseeing the maintenance of electro-mechanical devices for blood purification. Before that, they conducted research and development at the University of Cambridge, focusing on alarm systems in medical devices. Bernd also worked as a Research Scientist at Gambro Corporate Research, researching innovative concepts for blood purification and filtration. Bernd holds a doctorate in Engineering Design.

Bernd Wittner pursued higher education in the field of engineering design. From 2004 to 2008, they obtained a PhD in Engineering Design from the University of Cambridge. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) in Systems and Control Theory from the University of Stuttgart between 1995 and 1999.
