Shannon has always been passionate about sports and media. In 2000, they co-founded Rivals.com, which quickly became the go-to destination for college sports fans. The company grew rapidly, reaching 31 million unique users by 2007. In 2015, Shannon sold 247Sports to CBS Sports for a 48% return on investment to shareholders.

In 2014, Shannon founded ComicBook.com, which became the No. 1 brand in geek culture media. The company was acquired by CBS Interactive in 2020.
