Matthew Aplington

Matthew Aplington serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Spire, a position held since June 2016, where responsibilities include providing legal and strategic advice to the Board of Directors and executive leadership, managing regulatory relationships, and leading utility M&A initiatives. Previously, Matthew held roles as Managing Director, Associate General Counsel, and Director, Associate General Counsel, focusing on regulatory and litigation matters for Spire's natural gas utility operations. Prior experience includes serving as a Partner at Lowenbaum Law, where Matthew launched a commercial litigation practice group, and as an Associate at The Stolar Partnership, emphasizing real estate litigation. Matthew earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Saint Louis University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Northwestern University.
