Gerhard Müller

Gerhard Müller has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Gerhard is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at SpiroChem since April 2023. Prior to that, they held the same position at Anavo Therapeutics BV from April 2021 to March 2023. From 2017 to 2021, they were the Chief Scientific Officer at Gotham Therapeutics.

Before joining SpiroChem, Gerhard Müller worked at Mercachem BV as a Senior Vice President of Medicinal Chemistry from May 2011 to July 2017. In this role, they were responsible for strategic expansion into medicinal chemistry services, project portfolio management, and scientific and technical support for business development activities. Gerhard also initiated an Innovation Initiative exploring new chemical space for relevant target families.

Earlier in their career, Gerhard Müller held positions at Proteros Fragments GmbH as the Chief Scientific Officer & Managing Director from July 2008 to May 2011, and as the Vice President of Drug Discovery from March 2005 to June 2008. Gerhard was the Chief Scientific Officer at Axxima Pharmaceuticals AG from June 2003 to February 2005. Gerhard Müller also worked at N. V. Organon as the Section Head Chemistry from 2001 to 2003, at Bayer AG as a project manager from 1994 to 2001, and at GSK as a Scientist in Structure-Based Drug Design from 1992 to 1994.

Gerhard Müller completed their Master's Degree in organic chemistry at Goethe University Frankfurt from 1984 to 1989. Gerhard later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medicinal Chemistry from 1989 to 1992 at the Technical University of Munich.
