A Midwest native, Ben is a strong believer in the power of coalition building, particularly when emphasizing the intersections of environmental, racial, indigenous, economic and gender justice to create a sustainable and engaged social change movement. At Spitfire, Ben provides communications, research, administrative and media support for clients focused on racial, economic, environmental and LGBTQIA+ rights.
Prior to joining Spitfire, Ben interned with Theresa Greenfield’s Senatorial campaign, the Mayor of Chicago’s Press and Communications Office, and the Human Rights Campaign, providing them with hands-on communications and political advocacy experience. As an undergrad, Ben conducted policy research on LGBTQIA+ healthcare disparities and advocated for the implementation of gender-neutral housing at St. Olaf College.
Ben graduated with a double B.A in English and gender and sexuality studies from St. Olaf College and is an ardent believer in the importance of centering racial, economic and LGBTQIA+ justice in all social justice campaigns. In their spare time, Ben enjoys camping and hiking trips with friends, brewing kombucha, cooking vegan lasagna and listening to Angel Olsen.
