For over 30 years, Jo Ann Secor has worked in the cultural education field, developing innovative interpretive exhibitions, installations and programs for libraries, schools, science centers, children’s, history and art museums. Having formed the division of Museum Services in the late 80’s for SKOLNICK Architecture + Design Partnership, she and her team have worked on numerous award-winning projects including the design of Bulgaria’s first children’s science museum, Muzeiko; The Muhammad Ali Center; Sony Wonder Technology Lab and exhibits for such esteemed subjects such as Alexander Calder and the Hubble Space Telescope. Jo Ann has been a Professor of Exhibition Planning and Design at NYU, the Fashion Institute of Technology and Bank Street College of Education, where she received her graduate degree after studying painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her career began as an art teacher before she moved into the zoo education field and eventually into work for museums. She strongly believes in the power of informal learning experiences to offer children and youth opportunities for creativity, skill-building personal empowerment. In addition to sitting on the Board of NY Edge, she is a board member of the South Fork Bakery, a training program for individuals with special needs, and the Alumni Association of Bank Street College.
