Mark Waltz

CTO at SpotOn

Mark Waltz is the current Chief Technical Officer at SpotOn, a position they have held since May of 2020. Prior to their current role, Waltz served as the Vice President of Software Engineering at StockX from August of 2018 to May of 2020. In this role, Waltz helped build the Stock Market of Things and scale a global two-sided marketplace that supports transparency, anonymity, and authenticity.

Before their time at StockX, Waltz was the Chief Architect at Tweddle Group from March of 2016 to August of 2018. At Tweddle Group, Waltz created software solutions for the automotive, heavy equipment, and manufacturing industries. These solutions included diagnostics, analytics, decision trees, knowledge bases, intelligent systems, and learning algorithms to diagnose and predict problems in vehicles. Waltz was also responsible for creating a culture of excellence that builds high quality, fault tolerant software.

Throughout their career, Waltz has demonstrated their ability to build software solutions that support millions of end points, including vehicles, drivers, dealerships, technicians, and support personnel. Mark's experience with NodeJS, Go, Postgres, streaming technologies, data analytics, and machine learning make him an invaluable asset to any organization.

Mark Waltz received their undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University. Mark then pursued a master's degree in Electrical Engineering and English from Wayne State University. In addition, they have completed a certification program in Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera.

They are on a team with Michelle Howland Zmugg - General Counsel, RJ Horsley - President, and Adam Jay - VP Sales. Mark Waltz reports to Doron Friedman, Managing Director.
