Gregory Carter

Gregory Carter has extensive experience in law enforcement and security, currently serving as a Deputy Sheriff for Spotsylvania Sheriff since April 2023. Previously, Carter held the position of Coordinator of School Safety and Security with Spotsylvania County Public Schools from July 2022 to July 2023, and worked as a Detective at Spotsylvania Sheriff from July 2021 to July 2022. Prior experience includes serving as a Court Security Officer with Paragon Systems Inc from October 2019 to July 2021, and a long tenure from July 1996 to October 2019 as Deputy Sheriff - First Sergeant at Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, supervising 26 officers across 31 public schools. Carter's military background includes service in the US Navy as a Gas Turbine Mechanic from September 1982 to September 1986. In terms of education, Carter graduated from the Virginia Forensic Science Academy in 2003 as a Crime Scene Investigator and obtained certification from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in 2021.
