Scott Schoonover has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Scott served as a Deputy at Harris County Constable Precinct 4 from August 2006 to January 2009, where they were assigned to various patrol divisions. From August 2006 to October 2022, they held the role of Captain and Fire/Arson Investigator at the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, overseeing the operations of the investigations division. Additionally, Scott Schoonover worked as Deputy Chief at Spring Fire Department from August 1996 to the present, where they oversee support services divisions such as Quatermaster, Fire Prevention and Education, Communications, and Rehabilitation. Scott is currently serving as a Director at the Texas Chapter International Association of Arson Investigators since March 2021 and holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer since March 2023.
Scott Schoonover received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice/Homeland Security from Waldorf University. Scott holds certifications in Incident Commander, Leadership Command College, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, Fire Officer 2, Incident Safety Officer - Fire Suppression (ISO), Hazmat Technician, and Master Firefighter from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, with various completion dates ranging from 2004 to 2017. Scott also has an Advanced Public Information Officer certification from FEMA and a Basic Instructor certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Scott has additional certifications in Fire Service Instructor II, Master Arson Investigator, Master Fire Investigator, and Master Firefighter from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Lastly, Scott holds a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
