Springfield Prep Charter School
Springfield Prep Charter School is a public charter school in Springfield, Massachusetts that opened in the 2015-16 school year and will serve nearly 500 students in grades K-8 as of August 2022. We're driven by the belief that all children deserve a world-class education and that they can and will achieve when provided with high expectations, rigorous curriculum, and a joyful school culture. Springfield Prep gets results for our scholars. On the 2018 MCAS, our first year of state testing, Springfield Prep scholars shined bright, leading in a state that leads the nation in educational performance. In its first year of MCAS results, students performed in the top 5% of all school districts in Massachusetts in Math and in the top 15% of all districts in ELA, among third graders, far exceeding state averages in both subjects. Just as importantly, historically underserved student groups excelled, significantly outperforming state averages, with Black and Latino scholars at Springfield Prep passing the MCAS at more than double the rate of their statewide peers in both ELA and Math. High Needs and Economically Disadvantaged students at the school also topped their statewide peers by more than 25 points in both ELA and Math. In 2019, Springfield Prep was one of 3 charter schools and one of 63 schools labeled as a Massachusetts School of Recognition for our scholars' excellent academic growth, an accomplishment that gives us great pride. Our scholars and our school are defined by much more than strong academic performance, though. Scholars get a well-rounded education that includes daily music, art, physical education, and recess, and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of field trips, projects, presentations, and performances.
