Marshall J. Shepherd is currently an advisor at SpringGem Weather Information. Prior to that, they were a visiting research scientist at NASA GSFC from January 2003 to May 2008, where they collaborated with EOS scientists and TRMM scientists on remote sensing urban impacts in terms of heat, consol, clouds, and rainfall. Marshall also developed urban scheme to simulate the first order urban effect in land surface model.
Shepherd's studies began at Nanjing University in China from January 1985 to December 1989, where they were an undergraduate student. Marshall then moved on to The University of Arizona from August 1993 to May 1999 to pursue their Ph.D., studying land surface skin temperature variation using AVHRR and NCAR climate model as a student in Robert Dickinson group. During their time there, they also minored in Management Information System (MIS).
Marshall J. Shepherd has a Ph. D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Climate Dynamics from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics in China.
