Lionel Trésaugues

Director Structure-based Drug Design at Sprint Bioscience

Lionel Trésaugues has a diverse work experience in the field of structural biology and pharmaceutical research. Lionel has held various roles at Sprint Bioscience, starting as a Senior Researcher in 2012 and progressing to Associate Principal Scientist, Principal Scientist, and currently as the Director of Structural Biology. In these roles, they have been responsible for delivering X-ray structures of protein/fragment complexes and gaining a better understanding of the Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) for targets.

Trésaugues also founded and runs a media company called ShapeSciFx, which focuses on helping scientists promote and showcase their research or products through various media formats.

Prior to their time at Sprint Bioscience and ShapeSciFx, they worked at Karolinska Institutet as a Senior Laboratory Manager and a Postdoctoral Fellow. Here, they conducted studies on the mechanisms of regulation of NUDT16 and phosphoinositide phosphatases, utilizing techniques such as X-ray crystallography and enzymology.

Lionel also has experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stockholm University, where they conducted follow-up studies on phosphoinositide phosphatases and NUDIX hydrolases, and at the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), where they focused on crystallography and the study of various enzymes.

Trésaugues began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Paris-Sud, where they worked on protein purification optimization and crystallogenesis for therapeutic targets in collaboration with the company Mutabilis.

Overall, Lionel Trésaugues has a strong background in structural biology, enzymology, and crystallography, with experience in both academic and industrial settings.

Lionel Trésaugues earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in the years 1999-2001. Lionel then pursued a Master's Degree in Structural Enzymology from Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 2001-2002. Lionel further advanced their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Protein Engineering and Structural Biology from Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 2002-2006. Additionally, they participated in a course on drug development called Kurs i läkemedelsutveckling, although the specific years are not specified.
