John Koontz, MSME, MBA has extensive experience in research and development engineering, particularly in the medical field. John is currently serving as the Senior Director of Research & Development Engineering at SpyGlass Pharma, Inc. Prior to this, they held various leadership positions at New World Medical, where they were responsible for the entire surgical Glaucoma new product pipeline and implemented growth strategies and business process improvements. Additionally, they led the transition and development of Alcon, A Novartis Division's R&D team and was involved in the research and product development of precision surgical ophthalmic devices. John Koontz's earlier work experience includes roles in engineering and research at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they focused on microstructural bone growth and developed optimization software.
John Koontz holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in General Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business, which they obtained from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they completed their Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) with a specialization in Bio/Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, from 1998 to 2000. John began their educational journey with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSE) from Calvin University, which they earned from 1994 to 1998.
