Douglas Gordon Smith

Douglas Gordon Smith is a seasoned legal professional with over 30 years of international experience across the Middle East, North America, and Asia. Currently serving as a Partner at Squire Patton Boggs since 2015, Douglas has a robust background that includes previous roles such as Legal Advisor at SSEK Legal Consultants and Senior Consultant at Habib Al Mulla & Company. Douglas has also held the title of Managing Partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP in Hong Kong and has worked with several prestigious law firms throughout their career. Beyond legal practice, Douglas is actively involved as a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, contributing to the support of Canadian businesses in the UAE. Douglas holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics as well as a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University, having graduated in 1978 and 1981, respectively.
