Philip Muscarella is a senior research scientist at SRI International, a position held since July 2015, having previously served as a research scientist at the same organization. Prior experience includes an oceanographer role at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory from July 2014 to July 2015 and an adjunct professor position in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of West Florida between August 2013 and July 2015, where Philip co-taught an online Introduction to Oceanography class. Early career experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Society of Engineering Education, focused on ocean data assimilation and probabilistic prediction, specifically through the development of a Multi-scale 3D Variational (MS-3DVAR) data assimilation scheme for the Navy Coastal Ocean Model. Philip holds a Ph.D. in Marine Studies with a concentration in Physical Oceanography from the University of Delaware (2006 - 2011) and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics with an Electrical Engineering specialization from John Carroll University (2002 - 2006).
