Rakesh Kumar

Rakesh Kumar has a strong background in information and computing sciences, with a focus on vision technologies. Rakesh has held various leadership roles throughout their career, including Vice President, Information and Computing Sciences, Director, Center for Vision Technologies at SRI International since December 2017. Prior to that, they served as Director, Center for Vision Technology at SRI International from March 2013. Rakesh also worked as a Sr. Technical Director, Vision and Robotics Lab at SRI International from an unknown start date until February 2013. Before their time at SRI International, Rakesh was a Technical Director, Vision and Robotics Lab at Sarnoff Corporation from unknown start date until 2006 and a Group Head, Media Vision Group at Sarnoff Corporation from 1997 to 2002. Rakesh began their career as a Staff Programmer at IBM from 1991 to 1993.

Rakesh Kumar holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, which they obtained between 1978 and 1983. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University at Buffalo from 1983 to 1985. Rakesh later completed their education with a PhD in Computer Science/Computer Vision from the University of Massachusetts Amherst between 1985 and 1991.
