Omal Liyanage is an experienced business manager currently overseeing country operations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives at A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. and holds a position as a visiting lecturer at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, focusing on marketing, sales, brands, and product management. With a robust background in business management, Omal has previously worked at Slim Pharmaceuticals, where supplier negotiations and profit maximization were key responsibilities. Omal's tenure at GSK Consumer Healthcare India involved significant product growth through strategic marketing initiatives, while work at MSD supported a notable annual sales increase. Early career roles at Sri Lanka Telecom and HSBC Sri Lanka further showcased marketing and sales acumen. Omal holds an MBA in Marketing and International Business Management from the University of Wolverhampton and additional marketing qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Since 1970, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing in Sri Lanka. Subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1980, SLIM is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka and of ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries.
