Emily May

Emily May has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Emily currently holds the position of Director of Retail Operations at SSA Group, a role they started in February 2023. Prior to this, Emily worked as the ZAG Board Technologies and Communications Officer for the Zoo & Aquarium Buyer's Group from November 2021 to January 2023.

Emily also has extensive experience at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, where they served in various roles. Emily started as a Retail Team Member in May 2014 and gradually advanced to positions such as Retail Team Lead, Retail Assistant, Retail Supervisor, and eventually Retail Operations Manager, where they worked from July 2021 to January 2023.

Before joining the zoo industry, Emily worked as the Manager of Tech Crew at Ashland University from October 2012 to May 2014. In addition, they worked as a Retail Team Lead at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium from May 2012 to August 2013.

Emily's earliest work experience can be traced back to 2010 when they worked as a Cashier at Darby Creek Nursery from April to August that year. Overall, their career has revolved around retail operations and management, particularly within the zoo and aquarium industry.

Emily May attended Ashland University from 2010 to 2014 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Ceramic Arts and Ceramics, graduating Cum Laude. In addition to their degree, they have obtained various certifications as well. In December 2021, they became Forklift Certified at the OSHA Safety Training Institute. In May 2021, they also obtained a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
