Lasse S. Vestergaard

Lasse S. Vestergaard has extensive work experience in the field of infectious diseases and public health. Lasse S. is currently working as a Senior Medical Officer and Team Lead in the Division of Infectious Diseases Preparedness at Statens Serum Institut since March 2016. Lasse S. is also a Member of the Technical Review Panel at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria since January 2020.

Prior to their current roles, Lasse worked as a Medical Officer in Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology at Rigshospitalet from March 2015 to February 2016. Lasse S. also served as a Medical Officer in Malaria and other Vectorborne & Parasitic Diseases at the World Health Organization from February 2012 to March 2015, and from December 2008 to January 2012. Lasse was a Project Leader for The InterACT Malaria-HIV Clinical Research Project at ACT Consortium - London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine from June 2007 to February 2015.

Lasse S. has been associated with the University of Copenhagen - School of Global Health as an Associate Researcher and Lecturer from 2001 to 2015. Lasse also worked as a Medical Officer in Clinical Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet - Department of Infectious Diseases from November 2007 to November 2008.

Earlier in their career, Lasse worked as a Medical Officer in the Department of Epidemiology and the Department of Parasitology at Statens Serum Institut from October 2004 to November 2007. Lasse S. also served as a Consultant at the World Health Organization - Global Malaria Programme from February 2006 to April 2006, and at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria from April 2004 to September 2004.

Lasse S. Vestergaard obtained a PhD Degree in malaria epidemiology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, which they attended from 2001 to 2005. Lasse S. also earned a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) from Médecins Sans Frontières Course in Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine (GHHM) - Royal College of Physicians, UK from 2019 to 2020. Additionally, they hold an MD Degree from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, where they studied from 1991 to 1999. Lasse S. Vestergaard is also a Board Certified Public Health Specialist, certified by the National Board of Health, Denmark in 2018.
