Maria Gonzalez Knavel

Maria Gonzalez Knavel serves as the Assistant General Counsel at SSM Health since July 2017, where guidance is provided to health care clients on various corporate matters, compliance issues, and health care transactions. Prior to this role, Maria was a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP for over two decades, focusing on health care and life sciences, government enforcement, compliance, and internal investigations. Maria also held the position of General Counsel at the State of Wisconsin Labor and Industry Review Commission from March 2016 to July 2017. An expert in health care law, Maria's background includes 12 years of managing a medical clinic before pursuing a legal career, capped by a JD from Marquette University Law School and a BS in Health Planning and Administration from Penn State University.
