Fred M. Jacobs

Dr. Fred M. Jacobs is the Executive Vice President of St. George’s University and serves as Chair of the Department of Medicine. A former member of the University Board of Trustees and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Dr. Jacobs returned to SGU in 2011 to build upon the University’s unique clinical training program and ensure comprehensive medical curriculum is administered evenly to students at all St. George’s University affiliate sites. His top priority has been helping the clinical faculty become more effective teachers and he is dedicated to the recruitment of top tier clinicians from all over the world.

Dr. Jacobs has held the position of Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services under Governors Richard Codey and John Corzine. In addition, he was President of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners from 1993-1995, and has served as Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs for Barnabas Health.
