John Richardson-Lauve has extensive work experience in the field of mental health and community outreach. John held the role of Senior Director of Community Outreach and Trauma-Informed Care Specialist at St. Joseph's Villa since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at ChildSavers from 2013 to 2023, where they served as the Director of Trauma and Resilience Education and Mental Health. In this role, they oversaw service delivery, quality assurance, and community partnerships. Before that, they were the Program Manager for Mental Health Services at ChildSavers from 2013 to 2016, responsible for leadership and strategic direction. John also worked as a Family Educator at Commonwealth Parenting from 2010 to 2015, where they provided parenting education and skills classes. John has also held positions at Virginia Home for Boys and Girls in evaluations specialist and program development roles, as well as teaching-parent positions. John's early work experience includes roles as a family teacher at Boys Town and an outpatient therapist at Catholic Charities of Baltimore.

John Richardson-Lauve completed their Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at North Carolina State University from 1992 to 1996. John then pursued a Master's Degree in Social Work from New York University, which they obtained from 1996 to 1997. In 2014 to 2015, John enrolled in the Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Program at Nonprofit Learning Point. Recently, in 2018 to 2019, they participated in the Leadership Quest, Class of 2019 at Leadership Metro Richmond.
