Mark Fam

President at St. Mary's General Hospital

Mark is an accomplished executive with progressive leadership experience in the health care sector. He brings a solid understanding of industry trends, supported by experience that ranges across the health care continuum. Mark joins us from Michael Garron Hospital where served as Vice President, Clinical Programs with responsibility for the majority of clinical services at the hospital, as well as leadership of a number of efforts with the East Toronto Health Partners, and the Ontario Health Team serving Toronto East. Prior to joining the Michael Garron Hospital, Mark was the Vice President, Corporate Services at Health Quality Ontario.

A Certified Health Executive, Mark has a broad base of industry knowledge based on his 20+ years working in the health system, where he developed expertise in health system strategy, operations and planning, service integration, community engagement, and quality improvement at the local and regional levels.

In support of his past provincial agency, hospital and consulting work, Mark demonstrates an ongoing commitment to health care as a Certified Health Executive through his active participation in the Canadian College of Health Leaders, with roles on the Professional Standards Council, as a CHE Reviewer, and is involved in the early design of LEADS. Mark serves in a volunteer capacity as the Past Board Chair of the Canadian Medical Equipment Protection Plan (CMEPP), and as a Board Member of HealthPRO.

Mark also contributes to new learners in the health system through his work as an Assistant Professor with the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and Associate Professor at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

We would also thank and acknowledge Sherri Ferguson for her commitment to St. Mary’s General Hospital during her tenure as Interim President and wish her well as she retires after a 40-year career.
