Dr. Muhammad Mamdani is working to expand their advanced analytical capabilities, including the application of artificial intelligence, using their own hospital data as well as other data sources to improve quality and operational excellence. In his previous role as the inaugural Director of the Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research and Training (CHART), Muhammad brought together hospital staff and physicians with data science researchers to solve real world problems by applying advanced analytics to health-care data. He now works to transform care by applying data science and advanced analytics on a much larger scale, across Unity Health.
Prior to joining the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and St. Michael’s Hospital in 2006, Muhammad was a Director of Outcomes Research at Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals in New York. Muhammad’s research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, drug policy, and the application of advanced analytics to clinical practice. He has published approximately 500 research studies in peer-reviewed medical journals. Muhammad is a professor at the University of Toronto, and in 2010 was named one of Canada’s top 40 under 40.
