Uwe Schneidewind

Uwe Schneidewind is a prominent German academic and political figure currently serving as Oberbürgermeister of Stadt Wuppertal since November 2020. Prior to this role, Schneidewind was a Professor of Innovationsmanagement und Nachhaltigkeit at Bergische Universität Wuppertal from March 2010 to October 2020 and served as President of Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie gGmbH during the same period. Earlier experience includes a tenure as Professor of Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Produktion und Umwelt and President at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg from October 1997 to February 2010, as well as project leadership at Universität St.Gallen (HSG) from July 1995 to September 1997. Schneidewind's academic journey began with a doctoral position at the Institut für Wirtschaft und Ökologie (IWÖ-HSG) at Universität St. Gallen from 1993 to 1995, following a consultancy role at Roland Berger in 1991-1992. Uwe Schneidewind holds a Diplom in Betriebswirtschaftslehre from the University of Cologne and a doctorate and habilitation in Wirtschaftswissenschaften from the University of St.Gallen.
