Nate Derby started their career as a Consulting Data Scientist at Fabric Worldwide, a marketing analytics company. Nate then worked as a Consulting Data Scientist at the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. In 2010, they joined Wunderman, a marketing agency, as a Consulting Data Scientist.
In 2012, Nate Derby moved to Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, where they identified their most profitable potential retail vendors using predictive analytics. Nate then joined Nordstrom as a Customer Loyalty Data Scientist in 2013. At Nordstrom, they designed, implemented, and documented an automated system to estimate the profitability of their customer loyalty program over time. This included segmentation to identify and track their most profitable customers, linking their behavior with certain marketing campaigns.
In 2014, Nate Derby left Nordstrom to co-found Stakana Analytics with their business partner, Alexei Agratchev. Stakana Analytics is a data science and analytics consulting firm that helps companies make data-driven decisions.
Nate Derby has a MS in Statistics from the University of Washington, a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Pomona College, and studied Statistics and Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Mathematics at the Budapest Semester in Mathematics.
