Cara Richardson has a varied and extensive work experience in journalism, content strategy, and management. Cara began their career as a Founder and Executive Managing Editor at SpeakeasyMag.com in 2005. Cara then worked as an Editorial Intern at the Naples Daily News, where they gained hands-on experience in various aspects of the organization and served as a web editor for a local news video podcast. Afterward, they joined The Washington Post as a County Editor, responsible for multimedia, stories, blogs, and databases. Cara was also part of a small team tasked with developing new websites for Washington Post products.

In 2008, Cara became an Assistant Managing Editor at the Las Vegas Sun, where they edited enterprise and daily news stories, moderated comments, engaged with readers online, and managed a team of reporters. Cara joined USA TODAY in 2011, initially as a Senior Digital Editor, overseeing content curation across desktop, mobile, and social platforms. Cara then became a National News NOW Editor, leading a team of reporters focused on breaking national news and producing top-performing content. Cara later transitioned to a role as a Digital Content Strategy Senior Editor, where they played a key role in enhancing competitive awareness and leading search and social media strategies. Cara was eventually promoted to Senior Manager of News, leading USA TODAY's breaking news, trending news, and network news teams, and directing coverage of major events such as the George Floyd murder, the racial justice movement, the coronavirus pandemic, and natural disasters.

Cara moved to Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK in 2021 as a Manager of Content Strategy, where they were the key internal communicator on audience goals and strategies. Cara led newsroom-wide training efforts with executive-level presentations and played a crucial role in shaping content strategies. Cara was later promoted to Director of Content Strategy. Cara'smost recent position is as the Managing Director of Content at Stand Together, starting in 2022.

Cara Richardson obtained a degree in Journalism from Ohio University from the years 2003 to 2006. During their time at the university, their field of study included Online Journalism, French, and Global Leadership. Additionally, they received a Professional Certificate in Product Management specifically designed for women from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
