Headquartered in New York, NY, Standard General L.P. was founded in 2007 by Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Soohyung (“Soo”) Kim with $100 million of seed capital from Reservoir Capital. The Firm pursues a single strategy of opportunistic investing in levered middle-market companies. Standard General seeks out event-driven special situations that are undergoing significant changes or disruptions and has the ability to invest across the capital structure in both publically traded and private entities.  Standard General has been a SEC-registered Investment Adviser since 2009.  The firm primarily manages capital for public and private pension plans, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals.
