Barbara Buell

After a successful career as a journalist, Barbara Buell transitioned into university administration, where they have excelled in marketing and communications. In their current role as Associate Dean at Stanford University, Buell is responsible for disseminating faculty research and promoting the school's programs to prospective students. Barbara has been instrumental in increasing awareness of Stanford's Earth-related courses and activities, and their work has been recognized with multiple awards.

Before joining Stanford, Buell spent 19 years at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where they served as Director of Communications. In this role, they oversaw all aspects of the school's communications strategy, including media relations, marketing, and branding. Under their leadership, the school's reputation reached new heights, and it became one of the most highly respected business programs in the world.

Buell began their career as a journalist, first as a San Francisco correspondent for Businessweek magazine, then as a Tokyo correspondent. In both positions, they distinguished herself with their insightful writing and their ability to navigate complex situations. After four years in Japan, Buell was awarded a Rotary International Foundation Journalism Fellowship, which they used to further their understanding of global affairs.
