Zain Westmacott

Zain Westmacott has a strong background in engineering and project management, with extensive experience in the energy sector. Zain worked for Stanwell Corporation Limited as a Senior Engineer Strategic Projects, responsible for implementing and coordinating the Process Safety initiative. During their time there, they established the Stanwell Process Safety Framework and developed barrier maps to monitor hazard controls. Zain also served as the Manager Major Projects Execution, leading a team to ensure successful execution of major projects and achieving cost and schedule targets. Zain played a key role in reducing Stanwell's 5-year capital plan by $150m as part of the QLD Commission of Audit. Prior to Stanwell, Zain worked for SSE plc, where they served as the Process Safety Manager and later as the Manager Maintenance. In those roles, they directed teams and oversaw maintenance and engineering activities. Earlier in their career, at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Zain was the Engineering Manager for the upgrade and refurbishment of the Komati Power Station and the Boiler Engineering Manager for the upgrade and refurbishment of boilers and their auxiliaries. Zain also worked as a Systems Engineer at Eskom.

Zain Westmacott completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1991 to 1996. Later, from 2000 to 2001, Zain pursued a Masters in Engineering Management at the University of Johannesburg, specializing in the field of Engineering. Additionally, Zain obtained the certification of MIEAust from Engineers Australia, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
