Toby Collodora has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Toby currently holds the position of Director of Subscriber Engagement and Retention at Star Tribune, which they began in November 2019. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Manager of Engagement and Retention at the same company.
Before joining Star Tribune, Toby worked at Cordillera Digital as a Vice President of Content Strategy from October 2016 to June 2019. There, they navigated digital content and product transformations for 14 Cordillera Communications television stations across the country. Toby also grew owned-and-operated traffic by 15% per year and led the development and implementation of a new content management system for 17 websites.
From July 2013 to October 2016, Toby held the position of Director of Mobile/Social Media at Cordillera Digital. Prior to that, they worked at Optum as a Special Project Editor from October 2011 to July 2013. At Optum, they managed health content for member-facing websites and was responsible for creating interactive and engaging content, platform improvements, and social community outreach.
Going further back in their career, Toby worked at the City of Inver Grove Heights as a Group Fitness Instructor from July 2011 to June 2013. Toby was responsible for teaching various fitness classes.
At CBS affiliate WCCO-TV, Toby served as a Digital Content Manager from November 2010 to October 2011. Toby managed all aspects of the department, including day-to-day news operations, long-term strategy, and budgeting. Toby also acted as the digital champion in the newsroom, training employees on digital technology and strategy. Prior to that, they held the position of Executive Editor at WCCO-TV from May 2004 to November 2010 and Assignment Editor from June 2001 to May 2004.
Throughout their career, Toby has demonstrated expertise in subscriber engagement and retention, content strategy, digital media management, and fitness instruction.
Toby Collodora holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for All from LinkedIn in 2020.
