John McGirl

John McGirl, DBA MSc., serves as the Chief People & Synergies Officer at Starboard Group since April 2022. Prior to this role, John held various senior leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer at The World and SVP Operations, as well as SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. John has extensive experience in human resources, marked by responsibilities for over 40,000 employees at Royal Caribbean International, where significant talent management and organizational efficiency initiatives were implemented. As a Managing Partner at People2Strategy, John specialized in aligning people practices with strategic business objectives. With a strong background in the cruise and hospitality sectors dating back to the late 1990s, John has also earned a Doctorate in Business Administration and an MSc in Human Resources from Sheffield Hallam University.
