Barbara Spiering is the Vice President of Marketing Technology at Starbucks. Barbara has over twenty years of experience in technology and data management.

Spiering began their career at Starbucks in June 2018 as the Director of Global Store Development Technology. In this role, they were responsible for implementing solutions and supporting platforms for managing global store design. Barbara oversaw significant upgrades to technology platforms that aligned with store concepting, new builds, and remodeling.

In June 2017, Spiering became the Director of EIM and Data Services at Starbucks. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of engineers and business systems managers. Barbara also created a digital ticketing system with scannable RFID technology for in-store repairs. This system increased information accuracy and decreased time to resolution, improving store operations and quality of service.

Spiering has been instrumental in modernizing the global store development technology footprint to improve stability and optimization for volume. This has enabled revenue maximization during critical sales weeks while eliminating tech debt.

Barbara Spiering graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Washington University. Barbara then went on to earn their Master of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
