Graham Heery

Associate Director, Nonclinical & CMC at Starpharma

Graham Heery has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Graham started their career as a Bioanalytical Chemist at the Centre for Studies in Drug Disposition from 1994 to 1999. Graham then joined Starpharma in 2002 as a Bioanalytical Services Manager, where they were responsible for coordinating bioanalytical projects, developing and validating assays, and implementing the quality system. Graham worked in this role until 2007.

After that, they joined Prana Biotechnology as a CMC and Preclinical Project Associate from 2007 to 2010. Graham'swork involved managing projects related to CMC and preclinical aspects.

Next, they joined YM Biosciences Australia as a Drug Development Project Manager in 2010. Graham was responsible for project management in the areas of CMC, preclinical, and regulatory aspects of early-stage development of novel drugs. Unfortunately, the closure of the office led to the redundancy of all staff positions in the Australian arm of the business in 2011.

In 2011, they joined BIOTA as a Quality Assurance Associate and worked there until 2014. Graham'srole primarily focused on quality assurance.

Graham Heery re-joined Starpharma in 2014 and held various roles in the company. Graham started as a Development Projects Manager from 2014 to 2015, followed by a position as a CMC and Non-Clinical Development Manager from 2015 to 2018. Graham then took on the role of Senior Nonclinical and CMC Development Manager from 2018 to 2022. Currently, they serve as an Associate Director, Nonclinical & CMC.

Graham Heery pursued their education with dedication and determination. In 1991, they enrolled at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and successfully completed their Bachelor's degree in Applied Science with a specialization in Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry after six years of diligent study, graduating in 1997.

Motivated by their passion for drug development, Graham continued their academic journey at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2004. Graham pursued a Master's degree in Medical Science with a focus on Drug Development. Graduating in 2008, Graham acquired extensive knowledge and expertise in this field.
