Taavi Pungas

Taavi Pungas is the Senior Director of Data at Starship. Taavi was previously a member of the Board of Directors at Enefit Sverige and Enefit Suomi from December 2017 to February 2019. From August 2014 to March 2019, they were the Head of Energy Products and Portfolio at Eesti Energia. As head of a team of 13 people, their main responsibility was to ensure profitability of electricity and gas sales in all of their 6 retail markets - the Baltic states, Poland, Finland, and Sweden. This included managing electricity and gas product offering, pricing and purchasing, together with associated financial and business risks, and elevating the company's performance by providing product-related analytics. Taavi reported to Eesti Energia's Management Board member responsible for customer services.

Some of their key achievements include starting from a small Estonia-focused team, transforming the energy products and portfolio area into a complete multinational business function; creating the products and setting up portfolio management in 3 new retail markets (Poland, Finland, Sweden); building a new set of statistical tools, models and IT systems to achieve a next level of quality in portfolio management and related analytics; adopting a customer-centric, agile product mindset in the team, and nudging others in the same direction; and expanding the team from 5 to 13 product managers and data analysts – and witnessing how marvelously people can grow and develop in well-suited roles.

Taavi Pungas has a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences (Experimental and Theoretical Physics) from the University of Cambridge and a Master's Degree in Physics from the University of Tartu. Taavi also has certification from Coursera in Customer Analytics, Advanced Competitive Strategy, and Machine Learning.
