Michael Carney

Michael Carney is a seasoned investment professional and advisor currently serving as the Managing Director of Starshot Ventures, overseeing investments, business operations, and family philanthropy since May 2025. Prior to this role, Michael operated as an independent consultant and held positions such as Senior Vice President at Evoke Advisors, where advisory services were provided to ultra-high net worth families and institutions. With experience as a General Partner at Upfront Ventures and board member for several companies including ZestFinance and Cloudvirga, Michael has a robust background in venture capital, technology investments, and business strategy. Additionally, Michael contributes to the academic community as an Investment Committee Member for the USC Marshall Venture Fund. Michael holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.
