John Gagan

John Gagan has extensive experience in the insurance industry, with a career spanning over 30 years. John currently holds the position of Chief Underwriting Officer at State Compensation Insurance Fund, a role they have held since January 2018. In this role, John is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of underwriting and pricing objectives and driving regulatory compliance. John also leads the evolution of underwriting practices and the transformation of policy-related systems technology.

Prior to joining State Compensation Insurance Fund, John held various senior management positions at companies such as CompWest Insurance Company, Travelers Insurance Company, Swiss Reinsurance Company, Zurich Financial Services, and Wausau Insurance Company. In these positions, they were responsible for strategic planning, portfolio management, regulatory compliance, staff development, and product design and innovation. Additionally, John managed underwriting teams, handled account referrals, and achieved top-line production targets and profitability goals.

Throughout their career, John has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in underwriting and has contributed to the success of each organization they have worked for.

John Gagan attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory from 1983 to 1987. John then went on to study at Saint Mary's College of California from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
