Ken van Laar

Ken Van Laar, FCAS, MAAA has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Ken began their career as a Senior Actuarial Analyst at Transamerica Insurance Group in 1983 and worked there until 1988. Ken then joined Industrial Indemnity Insurance as a Pricing Actuary, where they stayed until 1994. From 1994 to 2004, Ken worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Division Actuary and then as a Vice President. In 2004, they joined CompWest Insurance as the Chief Underwriting Officer/Chief Actuary, where they worked until 2011. Currently, Ken is serving as the Chief Risk Officer at State Compensation Insurance Fund since 2011.

Ken Van Laar, FCAS, MAAA received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, where they attended from 1979 to 1983.
