Patty Burns is a seasoned geologist with extensive experience in environmental management and resource evaluation. Currently serving as the Statewide Abatement of Impaired Land Section Chief for the State of Alaska since June 2020, Patty oversees the initial contact for impaired lands within the Department of Natural Resources. Prior roles include Natural Resource Specialist - Environmental Coordinator and Geologist within various sections of the State of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources, focusing on pollution issues, placer mine permitting, and environmental project management. Earlier professional experiences include positions at the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Geophysical Institute, the National Park Service, EMCON/IT Corporation, and the Denali Education Center, highlighting a strong background in science outreach and data management. Patty holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, obtained in 1994.
