Ellen Awai

Ellen Awai, MSCJA, BBA, has extensive experience in the behavioral health field, serving as a Certified Peer Specialist with the State of Hawaii since 2004. Highlights include developing the Hawaii Certified Peer Specialist Program while coordinating and training over 85 individuals, including military veterans. As a volunteer with the Oahu Suicide Prevention Task Force, Ellen participates in conferences focused on suicide prevention. From 2000 to 2015, Ellen worked as a Behavioral Health Consultant, assisting various agencies with issues related to workforce inclusion, cultural competency, and advocacy. Ellen also served as a Healthcare Promotions Education Specialist with the Hepatitis Support Network - Hawaii, focusing on Hepatitis/HIV education for diverse populations. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Travel Industry Management.
