Mel Walker, Esq. serves as a Policy and Legal Specialist at the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for the State of New Jersey since November 2023, after experience as a Legal Specialist at the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights starting in September 2021. Previously, Mel held the position of Judicial Law Clerk at Essex County Superior Court from August 2020 to August 2021 and was President of the Student Bar Association at Seton Hall University School of Law from April 2019 to May 2020. Additional roles include Edward D. Benattar Trial Advocacy Scholar at Keefe Law Firm, Summer Legal Intern at the New York Environmental Law and Justice Project, and Judicial Intern for the Hon. Steven C. Mannion. Mel's background also encompasses a Compliance Fellow position at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and various roles at IIR. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law (JD) from Seton Hall University School of Law, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Kean University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Lehman College.
