Zachary Boyd currently serves as the Director of the AI Policy Office for the State of Utah since April 2024 and is a Professor at Brigham Young University since June 2021. Prior experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from September 2018 to April 2022 and a Graduate Student Researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory from June 2015 to April 2022, where Zachary developed the theory of hydrodynamic scaling. Zachary also completed a PhD in Mathematics at UCLA from 2014 to 2018, where record-breaking solutions for NP-hard network partitioning problems were achieved, and earned a Master of Science in Mathematics from Brigham Young University in 2014. Early in the career, Zachary worked as a Medical Interpreter at Pacific Interpreters from January 2012 to June 2013, providing Cambodian language interpretation for healthcare organizations across the United States.
